From the castle to the museum: Over 900 years, Friedrichstein Castle in Bad Wildungen has experienced many changes. Today, impressive exhibitions can be seen here.
The collection Hessian Military History displays weapons, uniforms, medals, and paintings from the 16th to the 19th century. Many of the objects were visually impressive status symbols.
Also significant are the so-called Turcica: The military items from the Ottoman Empire were acquired by the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel as war booty, gifts, or through purchase. The highlight is a richly decorated audience tent.
A new permanent exhibition showcases castle rooms in the style of the Empire. The precious furniture from the early 19th century comes from Wilhelmshöhe Castle and the Kassel Residenzpalais at Friedrichsplatz. They are complemented by clothing, ceramics, and paintings.
