Hessen Kassel Heritage - Museums, Castles, Parks
Hessen Kassel Heritage is an institution of the state of Hesse and has a tradition of collecting, preserving, and shaping that spans around 600 years. Through the collecting passion of landgraves and electors, a diverse and significant collection of art treasures was brought together here over the centuries, which remain unchanged at their historical location. Numerous and varied testimonies of art and cultural history are at the center of our work. We are committed to the classic museum tasks: collecting, preserving, exhibiting, researching, and communicating. This also applies to the historical monuments and gardens.
Our employees create exhibition concepts, guided tours, and programs for museums, castles, and park facilities, ensure appropriate advertising and communication of the offers and events. We conduct research on collection contents, guarantee the monument preservation, conservation, and garden care of the objects, and ensure the organizational flow of all activities of one of the largest German cultural institutions.
With the unity of museums, castles, and historical parks, we significantly contribute to the intellectual and cultural identity of the city of Kassel as well as the state of Hessen - especially North Hessen. We see ourselves as a vibrant cultural institution. A visit to us includes not only active learning but also fun, relaxation, and edification. Through various forms of communication, our employees present knowledge in an equally professionally sound and entertaining and stimulating manner. Through attractive special exhibitions and a diverse program, we address various target groups - regardless of age, educational level, and background.
For the cultural heritage managed by Hessen Kassel Heritage, it is important to preserve the tangible treasures of past times for future generations and to convey them as the basis of an intangible, increasingly important societal consensus of values.
