The Museumsverein Kassel e. V. is the support association of Hessen Kassel Heritage (HKH), one of the largest cultural institutions in Germany.

In 1974, the world-famous Gallery of Old Masters and the Antiques Collection were reopened in the rebuilt Wilhelmshöhe Castle. Art-loving citizens founded the Association of Friends of the Kassel Art Collections, Kassel e.V. as a support association for the State Museums of Kassel, which was renamed Museumsverein Kassel e.V. two years later.

Civic engagement to promote and preserve the diverse cultural heritage in our region is the main task of the association.
