Visitor Center Hercules

For visitors who want to explore the Bergpark starting from the Hercules Monument, the Hercules Visitor Center is the first point of contact. In the award-winning building, you can learn everything about the history of Hercules, the Bergpark, and the water features. Films, pictures, and informative texts shed light on the World Heritage Site from all angles.

A special feature is the digital mountain park map: Those who know it are well prepared for the real discovery of Europe's largest mountain park! And if that's not enough for you: With our apps - the mountain park app and "100 Masterpieces" - you will always have our digital support during your tours.

Our shop also offers support for your program: In addition to tickets, you can also get small refreshments here, and there is no shortage of souvenirs for the time after your visit to Kassel.

Architecture at the highest level

An architecturally outstanding feature like the Hercules monument deserves an architecturally outstanding visitor center. The design by the Berlin-based office Staab Architekten emerged as the winner of an architectural competition in 2006 and was completed in 2011. The unassuming yet striking building was awarded the Simon-Louis-du-Ry plaque by the Association of German Architects Hesse in 2013.

Whoever enters the building, which is designed with a rough textured exterior and a smooth interior made of exposed concrete, will soon see Hercules through a huge panoramic window. This way, the monument, about which the visitors of the visitor center can get comprehensive information, always remains in view.
