When approaching the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe from the city side and wanting to start the visit to the World Heritage Site at the level of the castle, visitors can find all the necessary information for their discovery tour at the Wilhelmshöhe Visitor Center: Whether the focus is on the historical buildings, the exhibitions, or the park itself: The friendly staff of Hessen Kassel Heritage are happy to assist you and provide you with all the necessary information, as well as souvenirs and refreshments.

In addition, you will have access to the Bergpark app and the "100 Masterpieces" app at the visitor center. With them, you will have the perfect digital companions for exploring the World Heritage Site.

Making a station in the old station building.

Exactly 110 years after the first opening, the second one followed, and a former station building had become a visitor center.

The old station building, built in 1898 by the Kassel architect Georg Karl Wilhelm Kegel, was repurposed in 2008 after an extensive renovation. The building, which is listed as a historical monument, features ornate decorative elements and striking half-timbered construction on the upper floor. Architectural firm Schultze & Schulze, in close collaboration with the State Office for Heritage Conservation, ensured that the original character of the building with its waiting room is once again tangible, while also meeting the requirements of a modern visitor center.
