Jannik Truong, born in 1998, began learning to play the piano at the age of three, initially self-taught. Since 2013, he has been studying, currently in the Master of Music program, at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Prof. Sheila Arnold. In international master classes with Bernd Goetzke, Dmitri Bashkirov, Janusz Olejniczak, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, and many others, Jannik received further inspiring influences.
At the age of twelve, he made his debut at the "Klavier-Festival Ruhr" at the Essen Philharmonie. Since then, his concert activities have taken him to many cities in Europe. He has performed, among others, at the Robert-Schumann-Saal in Düsseldorf, the Vienna Hall of the Salzburg Mozarteum, the Warsaw Philharmonic, the "Acht Brücken" Festival, the "Cremona Summer Festival," and "Young Euro Classic" at the Konzerthaus Berlin. Additionally, he has appeared multiple times as a soloist with an ensemble under his own direction and has worked as an orchestral pianist with the Landesjugendorchester NRW and the Bundesjugendorchester.
Jannik Truong is deeply involved in historical performance practice and has received instruction from renowned specialists such as Andreas Staier, Tobias Koch, Olga Pashchenko, and Alexander Melnikov. Additionally, he was a semifinalist in the International Chopin Competition on historical instruments in Warsaw in 2023.
He is the first prize winner of international competitions such as the Euregio Piano Award, Prix Amadéo de Piano, Rotary Piano Competition, and the International Piano Competition Wiesbaden. He has received scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service, the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now association, and the Richard Wagner Association Dortmund. Currently, he is supported by the German National Academic Foundation and the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now association.
In addition to music, Jannik is passionate about natural sciences and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Physics with honors from RWTH Aachen.
