The jazz/pop ensemble of the Music Academy Kassel has been in existence since October 2022 and has since developed a rich repertoire of works from various areas of popular music. A selection of these will be presented by the experienced and well-rehearsed band this evening.

For this purpose, a program has been selected that reflects the emotional diversity of different genres: the seductive melancholy of a jazz ballad, the relaxed lifestyle of soul music, as well as the captivating energy of funk and rock songs.

This carefully curated "menu" of moods and timbres is held together by the special ensemble. All works were specifically tailored to the "chamber music" formation with two string players. The loving arrangements were partly created by lecturer Lukas Pfeil and partly by the students themselves. They provide space for improvisation, which the outstanding soloists of the band fill with creativity and musicality.
