Highlights of the Old Masters Picture Gallery

They discover highlights of the collection like the large animal painting by Johann Melchior Roos with over 80 animals from around the world. In doing so, they learn about the artists' personalities and the stories behind their works - and about the painting techniques of the Old Masters: What are the colors made of and how did the painters produce them? Leadership topic in the collection of antiquities

"School meets Antiquity"

The offer deals with various aspects of Roman and Greek culture as well as their influence up to the present day. Politics, economy, philosophy, values of ancient societies, literature, art, and everyday culture - all these areas continue to shape us today, often without us being aware of it.

On a journey through time, topics such as urban planning, mythology, clothing and hairstyles, currency, food, and much more from Roman and Greek culture are examined more closely. Students discover parallels to our modern world and reflect on the foreignness of individual aspects in order to engage with their own culture as well.

Procedure:

  • Duration: 3 hours

  • Participants: max. 60 students, divided into 3 groups

  • Stations: 3 thematic stations

  • Costs: 350 Euro

Working at stations is an ideal complement to working with textbooks and texts in the classroom. Many aspects of Roman and Greek cultures are made tangible through this. The creative handling of ancient objects offers students various and stimulating approaches to ancient cultures.

This offer is freely bookable and is aimed at school classes or multiple grades of secondary education as a morning event. The programs are aligned with the curricula and provide a valuable addition to the teaching.
